Excel Odoo Connector
Data connection and synchronization
Using this module you can generate office document connection (ODC) file and open it via Microsoft Excel to build reports or for other purposes.
Also special url allows you to fetch data from Odoo into Power BI.
This module helps to get and synchronize data between Odoo and Excel, LibreOffice, PowerBI. Using the Odoo Excel Connector you can link ERP data and Excel spreadsheets, easily sync Odoo data to Excel file, build reports (accounting reports, sales reports, purchase order reports, project task reports and any kind of other reports).
Excel file can be updated manually (the Refresh button) or with a regular time interval.

The functionality is tested using Excel App from Office 365. If you use older office apps or want to link Odoo data manually please see next video: How to link external data from Odoo to Excel using Web Data URL
If you use LibreOffice or other OpenOffice suite you can link external data from Odoo. Please watch this video: How to link Odoo data to LibreOffice Calc.
After installation of the module you will the special "excel" icon near the "export" button
The button is displayed in each list (tree) view and allow open ODC generation wizard.
ODC is office document connection format for Microsoft Excel and allow save power query rules as file.
When user open ODC file Excel gets external web data from Odoo server by specified algorithm and shows Odoo records as Excel spreadsheets.
After saving of XLSX file, user can update data using the "Refresh" button or configure to update data at a specified interval.
Excel will always update the spreadsheets according predefined rules and filters.

Two-Way Synchronization of between 2 Odoo databases
Hello,
Please, can this be configured to serve a two-way synchronization between 2 Odoo databases? For example, can the Excel generated be used as an import file to upload data to another Odoo instance on another server such that systems "A" and "B" will eventually have the same data after each synchronization run (both manually or Cron-based regular time interval)?

Thanks for your interest and contacting me.
The process you described should be developed via Odoo rest API and my module is not necessary. One Odoo can communicate with other, please see Odoo docs about external rest api.
is it secure
we need to know if this way of viewing data in excel secure on not in case the copied web data url is used from others, because there is no ask for authentication from excel sheet

When user want to sync data to excel, the system generates access token which allow receiving records on behalf of user, who created ODC template.
The way is the same as sharing file or access to file in most of the system.
If person has the link, he/she has access to data.
Administrator of the system can remove that access. Also access is automatically disabled, when user is archived.

The module works correctly only with a single database. If you use multiple databases, you can use dbfilter parameter of odoo.conf or remove other database

what about security friends?
passwords? tokens are used?

Access token is used to get data. Token is generated during creating template

User generates an exporting template and uses generated link as web data source in Excel or Power Bi.
Records are exported/synced using access rights for user who generated template.
All model records in Odoo database can be exported

My module allows to get records already filtered in Odoo.
You can filter records in Odoo, that create exporting template, than records will be synced using your filter.
