Restrict warehouses, stock locations, and picking types per-user

Overview

This module adds powerful, fine-grained security access controls for warehouses, stock locations, and picking types, all on a per-user basis. It works well for operations that use the Odoo Inventory module heavily, such as eCommerce or sales operations. Access control is configured on the User's settings page, so no custom XML or Python code is needed.

Stock Restrict Locations

Restricted access to warehouses, locations, and picking types on a per-user basis.

Installation

This module does not require any external Python or binary dependencies. Simply drop stock_restrict_locations in your addons folder, and install.

Configuration

Restrictions are setup per-user:

  1. Browse to Settings -> Users -> Your User
  2. Under the Applications heading, set the Inventory: User permission
  3. Enable the module by checking Restrict Warehouses/Locations
  4. Select the warehouses, locations, and picking types for your user
  5. All done!

Notes

Please note that this module applies restrictions to ALL of the following records:

  • stock.warehouse
  • stock.location
  • stock.picking.type
  • stock.picking via location_id or location_dest_id
  • stock.move via location_id or location_dest_id
  • stock.quant via location_id
  • stock.inventory via location_id
  • stock.inventory.line via location_id
  • stock.orderpoint via location_id

Also please note that some built-in Odoo modules (namely point_of_sale) require certain picking types and locations to function correctly. Please test thoroughly before publishing to a production environment. For example, the Point of Sale module requires the following to function correctly:

  • The PoS Orders route
  • The PoS' location (e.g. WH/Stock)
  • Physical Locations
  • Partner Locations/Customers
  • Possibly others for certain use-case
