BOM Multi Variants Assign

A module to assign multiple variants in one BOM

Overview

BOM Multi Variants Assign module allows you to select multiple variants on one BOM. In default odoo you need to create separate BOM for every variant. It is impossible to assign multiple variants to single BOM in odoo. By using our module you can select multiple variants on BOM. You don't need to create BOM for every variant. Just create one BOM and select all variants in that.

Product Variants New Field

On Bill of material (BOM). There is new field added "Product variants". In that you can select multiple variants from selected template.

Demo Products to Create BOM Example Bellow

These are the demo products main and components to create MO.

Main Product Variants

This is main product. It has 6 variants with type steel, aluminium and custom. We will use steel and custom for example below.

Main Product's BOM

We have created three BOMs. One is BOM with only product template "Main Product" selected. Two other BOM are created by adding multiple variants on new field "Product Variants".

SO With Our Steel Variant Product

In this so, we have selected product steel variant from main product. And we have also this variant added on our BOM in "Product Variants" field. So it will create new MO with that BOM. Check bellow image.

MO With Our Steel Variant BOM

When above SO is confirmed. New MO is created. You can see that MO is created with BOM that has steel variant added in our "Product Variants" field.

SO With Our Custom Variant Product

In this SO, we have selected product custom variant from main product. So now when we confirm SO it will create new MO with BOM which has only main template is selected only.

MO With Our Steel Variant BOM

When above SO is confirmed. New MO is created. You can see that MO is created with BOM that has only template is selected on BOM.

Conclusion

So conclusion is that, we created three BOMs. One with only template selected. Other two are by adding multiple group of variants in our new field "Product Variants".

So when SO is confirmed. It will search for BOMs in that current variant product is added in new field. After that if it doesn't find any BOM then it will search for normal flow.

BOM search priority will be like this. In BOM it will match product variant field first, after that new multiple product variants fields. and last it will match product template of given variant as default.
