Problem

The size of a file to upload to a system depends on the server of the service provider (E.g: Odoo does not allow uploading files larger than 50Mb, meanwhile the maximum limit of Viindoo is 128Mb). If you attach a document that exceeds the limit, a warning will pop up, stopping your upload.

This limitation is inconvenient for users when they want to attach larger-size documents.

Solution

This module provides the upload_file widget which allows uploading big files to the system without any limitations.

Usage

To inherit this feature in the development of other apps and modules, you need to add the following code lines:

file_path = fields.Char(string='File Path', help="Path on the Odoo server to the uploaded file")
<field name="file_path" widget="upload_file" />

Editions Supported

  1. Community Edition
  2. Enterprise Edition

Installation

  1. Navigate to Apps.
  2. Search with keyword to_upload_file.
  3. Press Install.

Instructions

You can upload documents from different apps such as Purchase, Sales, Inventory, Documents, etc. to send to customers or store them online for internal management.

In this example, we will attach a document in the Documents app.

Navigate to Documents and press Upload. For a file larger than 128Mb, a warning will pop up.

Warning maximum file size

After installing the module, you are able to upload the same file to the system without any warning.
