The problem

By default, the progress of a task is calculated based on the planned hours and the spent hours which is not suitable for many cases where how much work has been done may not related to any work time recorded (e.g. something that related to the value the done work gives)

In addition to that, it is hard to measure assignee's velocity to complete the task as we usually don't know how much work has been done in a specific period.

The solution

  1. This module allows project managers to define the amount of effort required to complete a task by specify a number of points for the task in Task Points field. Project Managers will usually estimate task points during project planning, since that's when the team determines how much work they can carry out in an upcoming period. In addition to this, the task points are also used to calculate the weight of the task in comparison to the others in the same project or within a parent task if the task is a sub task.
  2. With the new functions mentioned above, this module allows to calculate the progress of a task in different modes automatically:
    • Timesheet mode: use timesheets to track the progress automatically;
    • Manual: users should input Done Points in the timesheet lines based on how much work they have done for the task.
